1/16 camaro pro-mod

I now have the seat installed together with the seat harness. I scratchbuilt an electrical box and brake resevoir and have the batteries installed and wired. I also made the hand brake lever and chute release lever, both are bolted in using 0.8mm nuts and bolts. pedals are now in place and I am just working on the linkages.










just got these in the post today. carbon dics brakes and hubs from Jim at Micro Nitro, and they are superb. Will be great to get these installed, but need to get the wheels and tires next.

Ok, got lots done on this beast. detailed the rear end and made a couple of changes to. Added detail to the rear hubs, (brake calipers are next). started detailing the oil and gas tanks. Turned the oil pump and pulley. Added some fuel lines to the engine and installed the front struts. I have mocked up the front discs/hubs as I haven't decided whether to use five stud or spindle mount wheels, I also adjusted the ride height at the front so that the new headers have ground clearance.

Jeez, Steve, I had enough trouble getting my head around this when it was in bare plastic, now it's getting painted I don't know how much more detail I can cope with!

@ Harley. I sometimes think on much I have put in it already, even my head spins.


I now have the headers painted and weathered, and have just started doing the rear brake calipers. I need some more hardware to bolt the engine in place before installing the headers, and I still have to attach AN fitting to the oil pump to. Pics show the headers mocked up and with the body in place. Also got the front discs painted to match the rear discs.

here are pics of the rear end with the hubs, discs, calipers and lines. the calipers were made from chemiwood, and detailed with various parts. just need to get some more hardware to bolt it on to the chassis, along with the studs. next up, the front calipers.

Here are the calipers for the front brakes. They have been made the same way like the rear calipers. The last couple of pics show the rear end mocked up to the chassis.

I made the steering wheel today, using the same method as John (Teresi) did for his Pro mod Daytona, (If you haven't seen this superb model, check it out) . It is just placed in at the moment, until I have completed the dash panel. As you can I have started on it, with a rev limit light done, and a rev limit guage to machine up. The instruments facias are from Slicks.

The engine is now bolted in place, with the headers, and scratch built drive shaft. The back axle is also bolted in place along with the wheelie bar.

Next up is to finish the oil and fuel tanks.

I don't know about anyone else, but I keep looking at this and thinking that it would have to be a serious contender for a Best in Show award at next year's Telford.

I know some of the matt green brigade at this year's Telford were commenting that proper recognition of civilian vehicles, and cars in particular, was long overdue - maybe this could be the breakthrough?

You know what? I just might make it to Telford next year. It would make a change for another model to take the top award.


Not much of an update, but the tanks are now in, the headers have been finished off and I have re-done the wheelie bar as I wasn't happy with it. I have reduced the angle and shortened it. Just waiting for the wheels and tires, but I have started redoing the tubs out of sheet ally.

The fuel oil lines have been installed, as well as the throttle cable and linkage. Also, the tires have arrived from Teds Modelling, now just waiting for the wheels. I used my lathe and three grades of sandpaper to get rid of the mould lines on the slicks, and put realistic wear on them. I simply clamped the tires on the chuck, using each grade of paper at differing speeds. The fronts were just done by hand as they were too flexible to be put on to the chuck.
