Hi,
Seeing as we are failing to produce items for the theme within a year and as the '32 is such an iconic hot rod we should all have one for next year already (if not it won't take long to bang out one of Revell's well engineered '32 kits), I was thinking of the theme for 2013.
As it will be the 50th aniversary of the IPMS I think its obvious for us to go for models based on '63 products. I've had a desire to build a '63 pro mod vette for a while so I think that would suit the bill for such a theme nicely.
Any thoughts anyone?
Cheers,

I've got a '63 Super Lightweight Galaxie that could be dusted off!

Jim, that sounds like a good idea to me. I really like the Corvette Stingrays from that year, and I have a Chevy Impala kicking around the loft I could build.

This first one is an MPC kit which will ride on funny car chassis when done. This one is the old AMT kit built straight fom the box, a very simple kit, but good fun.

Dave - those are spot on! The MPC body on the funny car chassis looks very promising - I really hope you get it finished for 2013!
However, I may be presuming a bit here - we need some sort of mutual agreement or an official nod from our SIG leaders before going mad trying to get a '63 theme build done for 2013.

Cheers Lee - have started thinking about what I'll need and when to start to have a decent chance of finishing by November 2013!
My timetable is looking good for getting my projects done this year so it looks like I'll have something interesting for this year's SIG theme and next year's...
Cheers,

Hi Guys I was thinking along the same lines for the Car& Motorcycle SIG stand. What do you think about doubling up with rod & custom to one side, stock the other??? Just to add some others to your hit list - Avanti, Stingray, Aston DB5, Jag MkII, Corvair, etc Rich

I like that idea........or stock version and a custom version of the same car side by side? Lee

Hi,
That does sound like a good idea - lets give the punters lots of different variants of 1963 shiny things to look at!
It'll give people a good idea of how much is done to make car models unique - a co-ordinated theme build will be a good topic of conversation at SMW 2012.

Sounds like a plan then guys? I don't have a forum for the C&M Sig so I'll cordinate through if that's ok with you?
Oh and the 911 had it's first public show in '63 too - as the 901.

Had an idle 5 minutes and, in addition to those mentioned above, I thought the following '63 cars could also be used for the 1963 - 2013 spectacular:
Studebaker Avanti Chevy Impala VW Beetle (but watch out for the rivet counters with the '63 version) Citreon 2CV (same as the Beetle) American Motors Rambler E type Jag MGB (serious rivet counter alert) VW van/ pickup
And I'm sure there's a load of the AMT annual kits as well but they're probably into "collector" territory except for the reissued Galaxie and Impala.
Any other ideas?

And there's always:
Mk II Jag Mini Fiat 500 (maybe Gunze's Fiat 600 as well?)
The possibilities are endless!

Here's my '62 stash - ok so they're not all the right version but they were all launched in '62 The plan is to get these to Telford this year. The Cobra is all but done already but I think the screen pillars of the GT6 (for a later mark Spitfire) may be more of a challenge... And more relevantly I've been preparing for '63 for a while... The Porker will be backdated to either the 901 or first 911. Rich
