Hey Guys....
It has been commented to me that the boards lacks movement. The suggestion is that we open the board to non IPMS members. Please vote whether you agree with this
Cheers

Hi
seems OK to me, you can get tips from any sort of modelling, so I would be happy for anyone to contribute

This is always a difficult one. The reasoning behind the SIGs in the first place was as an added benefit to IPMS (UK) members. However, the modelling world is much bigger than IPMS (UK) and an argument could be that we should as members be promoting IPMS (UK) to that wider world and encouraging people to join in with us, not for us to sit outside it.
I'm all for opening it up, but I have noticed (even on the IPMS (UK) Forum now) that a specific password protected area for members only is becoming more popular. Maybe we could look at that as way forward? What should be in that passworded area I don't know, but as an example, access to set up at SMW will only be for IPMS members and membership of the SIG should only be for IPMS members?
As I said, not easy.

I must agree with PT, the more the merrier. Voyager has come on board, after all, so the system works. Cheers, Rick. aka Sixwheeler.

I agree that an area for IPMS members only may encourage some to join - assuming the content of that area is seen as worthwhile ;D I'm also unsure as to what would be in there though, maybe the SIG builds, show report etc?
As I have just replied to Lee (it was my suggestion to open up), I am a member of the Model Cars forum but it is so big I'll never catch up plus with this being UK based, the language, humour, products and people are more relevant to me (I know opening it up may result in overseas members but hopefully it will stay majority UK).
Finding the board gave me the nudge to join the SIG, maybe it will be the same for others ;D

They say you have to be in it to change it, well that makes sense, as does letting other folks know what they can find, so open the doors for a peek from the outside world, why not. ;D

I'm guessing the board may be opened up now. Will this also mean it will be viewable (or at least sections of it) for non members, to give them an idea of what is here without having to register. I for one would be unlikely to join a forum I haven't seen (although I did with this one because I came via the IPMS forum).
