When I bought an AMT Corvette last Sunday and saw the options I knew it wouldn't be long before it hit the bench. The plan is to use the custom grille and fill in the mounting points for the rear bumpers. As far as the engine is concerned I'm going for the blown 427. I've already made a start and after sanding down the mould lines the body has been primed. The rear bumper mounting holes have been filled and sanded but are still just visible through the primer. Luckily the underside was a lot less trouble. It should look presentable after some detail painting. I can't decide whether to have it low all round or with a slight rake.

Hi,
The proportions on those AMT 'vettes are pretty good. As its a custom with a blown engine I'd go for a low stance with a slight rake.
I'm working on an AMT '63 Corvette for the display as well - but its the split window coupe rather than the convertible version.
Cheers,

Filling and priming is complete. Now I need to decide on a colour scheme.

I've sprayed a few coats of clear on and made a start on the engine. The bonnet will have to be stripped as despite my best efforts I haven't been able to remove the marks even after sanding and repainting.

It's been a while since the last update but the bonnet has been repainted and the engine and bodyshell are finished. I've also made a start on the interior. I'm tempted to try and flock the carpet but after my previous effort I might leave it.

Hi, What you've done so far is looking good. Regarding flocking - brush on some Humbrol (enamel tinlet) clear gloss with decent amount of paint. Pour on the flocking and press it down. Leave it overnight and tip out the excess. If there are any bare bits (!) brush on more clear and redo the flocking. Here's the finished result in the Speedwagon I built last year: Cheers,
