Hi Guys,
Been building 1/24 & 1/25 models (mostly muscle cars) for a few years now and I wanna step up the standard of the stuff I build, I never modify the kits in any way, just build them with a nice paint job, altough having looked at some modelling sites even these are crap, so any tips about anything to do with building would be much appreciated, also i've been looking at resin bodies, are these easy to model and buuild etc, Thanks Pete

Hi Pete, welcome aboard. Lee and I swear by Halfords spray paints on our builds, using their primer, colour and clear coats all the way. tart with a few coats of primer, sanded back to give a smooth finish, then build up the colour in fine coats, then again build up the clear in fine coats, with the final coat a bit heavier to get a nice shine, but not so heavy that it runs As for resin bobies, I've built a couple, but not many. They tend to require a lot more prep work than a plastic body, but a lot of that depends on the quality of the cast, which can vary greatly. Cheers, Dave

Hi Pete and welcome aboard.
I've only recently got back into building model cars and, like Dave, I've been using Halfords spray cans.

Hi Pete,
Welcome to our group!
What sort of tips do you want?
Are you a member of the IPMS UK? There should be an article some time this year in the magazine going through some assembly, bodywork and adding details tips for car modellers that I wrote recently as a follow up to a painting article that was published a couple of years ago. These two articles put together will give you a good start to making the next step with your model building.
If you look at the show floor section of this forum and check out my '32 cabriolet you'll see a model that has been built using a resin body.
Where abouts are you? It may even be possible to meet up and chuck some ideas back and forth!
Cheers,

I only use PVA glue for attaching glass. The best brand is Formula '560' which is marketed for Aero Modellers as a canopy glue. Very rarely do i get to the bottom off a tube of glue before it goes off but I'm now on my third of this stuff and i've finished every one to the bottom.
Resin bodies are just the same as plastic ones in a lot of ways they just need treating properly and preparing carefully.

For stripping paint try Mr Muscle oven cleaner on enamels and Fairy Power spray on other types of paint. I've had success with Locktite hand cleaner as well.
