I was in my LMS the other week when this caught my eye. As I hadn't built a rod for a few decades I bought it as I thought it would be a change from what I usually build. Not a lot to report so far but I have been making progress on the engine, which has been painted with Humbrol Ferrari Red. I haven't decided on the body colour yet but I'm leaning towards purple with the kit's flame decals.

After adding the exhausts and other ancilliaries the engine is complete, as is the radiator assembly. The next stage is to fit the engine to the underframe, which meant it was time to get the Halfords primer out and give the body components a couple of coats. Good job the weather's improved a bit. The interior has had a coat of paint too but it'll need at least one more. Next on the to do list is to give the bodywork a light rub down so I can start laying on the paint. I'm pleased with the way it's going so far.

A bit more progress. After rubbing down the primer I've got a couple of coats of purple on. The bonnet has been assembled and dry fitted with the radiator to make sure it fits properly.

I didn't think the colour of the interior went with the body colour so I tried a different shade. I wasn't keen on that either so I stripped off the paint and repainted it in ivory. I think it looks better but it will need a coat of matt varnish. Most of the suspension has been assembled and the wheels added. As you can see I decided to paint some whitewalls on the tyres. I've also applied some Bare Metal Foil to the firewall. Finally I had a dry fit of all the sub assemblies to see what it looks like. Once I've finished the interior it shouldn't take long to finish it off.

Hi,
Looks like its coming along nicely. Will we see it on our club stand in the '32 display in November?
Cheers,

After giving the upholstery a coat of matt varnish and painting the pedals and mats the interior is finished. I used the kit decal for the instrument panel and a gel pen for the surround. After fitting the panel to the bodyshell I added the interior and the steering column and wheel. Now that the interior is finished I should be done in the next few days.
