My best friend since high school bought me this car for my last birthday, then took me out to dinner. Of course we talked late 1960s Stck Car racing at the tracks we attended. So that pretty much sealed this cars fate. I've been documenting the build on my own group and a couple of others but figured I'd show you how far it is along. Attachments:

Now the rules back in the late 60s were rather strict in some areas and more open to interpitation in others. So you could cut parts of the trunk floor out for 'Rust repair' and move the tank around 'for saftey'. You were not susposed to reinforce the frame BUT you could build protective bars for the fuel tank. So I broke out the plastruct tubing and got to building. That protects the tanks, reinforces the rear spring mounts and gives a place to mount the extra shock asorbers (Dampers).

Seeing as I wont open the deck lid, (Trunk, boot, whatever), I just painted it flat black. While we are under the car we might as well do some more liberal interpeting of the rules. Now the rules siad "No frame reinforcement". These are "Street Stock" racers after all! BUT they also said you could cut the insides of the doors out for bars to protect the driver. They stipulated "Not less than 3 horizontal bars with two vertical connecting bars from top bar to bottom". BUT they did NOT say that all 3 vertical bars had to be above the floor! I love reading that white part of the rules between the printed stuff! So much you can do! (I outlined my 'Bottom door bar' in red)
