Hi Guys, Wasn't sure whether to put this in here or in the wip section but seeing as this is being buit initally for SMW 2011 it made sense to put it in here. A lot of work has been done, but it probably doesn't look like it! The chassis has been largely scratch built and incorporates the front and rear suspensions from the Revell Willys kit. I wanted a full fendered, almost stock (!) look so I have modified some fenders so that they will cover up the big tyres at the back. The plan is to have a blown hemi (based on the hemi engine out of the five window kit) that will be superdetailed. The final pic in this post is a mock-up I did this afternoon to double check everything will fit together. If its done for November I'll probably be more amazed than anybody! Cheers,

Hi Guys, Been working away on the pro-street pickup and have got the body parts painted. I haven't painted the flat black on the running boards yet as I'm going to paint the flat black parts on two models to save some time. The paint is Zero Porsche Cobalt Blue with Zero 2-pack. Sure takes a long time to polish and wax all the various body parts that a project like this has! Anyway, here's a picture of the painted parts: Cheers,

Hi Guys Now that the Speedwagon is out of the way I have returned to the pickup. Have started assembling the chassis. The supensions, brake discs and calipers are on. Working on plumbing the braided line with detail master a/n fittings (that are a pig to thread onto the braided line!). Next will be making up the exhaust system. Cheers,

Hey Jim,
Great looking build so far. What are you using for braided hose - looks amazing!

Hi G,
The braided hose is by Detail Master. I'll be using some for the fuel lines on the engine as well. Scale Dreams in the States is a good source for detail master. Andy, who is a member of this forum (model-cars.org.uk) sometimes has detail master stuff as well.
Cheers,

Hi Guys, The interior parts are now ready for when the cab is going to be put together: The flocking is Detail Master, the photo-etched steering wheel spokes are from the '32 Dan Finks Speedwagon photo-etch kit with the rim from the '32 5-window by Revell, steering column is Parts by Parks, the photo-etched gauge panel is from a '32 3-window photo-etch kit mounted on a label to get the white background, pedals made from plastic rod and photo-etched pedals, seat bases were made from plastic card with seats from the Revell Willys kit & belts are from Scale Modelling by Chris. Also started work on making an exhaust system. The front is from the '32 Revell kit (and will be sprayed Alclad Chrome) running into glass pack mufflers by Scale Repro's Plus then 1.5mm silver plated wire with Parts by Parks magaphone exhaust tips at the end. I used 0.4mm silver plated wire and 1.8mm stainless steel tube to make the exhaust hanging brackets: Have a great bank holiday weekend guys! Cheers,

Hi Guys, A bit more progress on the pickup. The chassis is onto its wheels: The silencers and rear section of the exhaust is done: The bed is on and covered with some balsa wood which will be sprayed with some clear and a frame made up for it to go on top: I've found the engine fouls on the cab floor and a recessed firewall is needed so I'll have to make a new cab floor and modify a firewall - so much for having the interior ready to go in! I'll finish the engine first so I will get the modified parts right first time. Cheers,

I know you say it won't be finished for Telford but you could still bring it as a WIP, pretty please!

Hi,
I'll bring it along as a WIP - it'll sit mocked up with a few wires and things dangling around!
Cheers,
