For those on www.24thscalemodeltruckforum.co.uk or www.rodsnsods.co.uk/ you may heve seen this there but it IS a hotrod!!
Ok, so I'm probably (one of) the slowest builders anyway but this was meant to be a 'quick build'! As usual I tried to do too much and most of it ended up being scratchbuilt or heavily converted.
Lights are from the Peterbilt 359 - I was going to put singles on but couldn't find anything suitable.
rear lights are from KFS, surrounds sprayed with - Alclad (I'm known as the Alclad man on 1:24th Scale Model Truck Forum) - and glued to strip. Rear pickup bed is styrene with a wood floor and strips of self adhesive chrome tape. Tank from the spares box.
Rear arches are partly cut from an aerosol lid with plasticard additions for the straight bits, curved at the edge to match the lid.
Two engines from resin bits, cobbled together to give some size to them. Scratchbuilt distributors with photoetch wire separators. Exhausts are 2mm aluminium wire, glued into 1/4" plastic tube (sprayed with......)
Rear wheels are trailer wheels and tyres from KFS with hubs from Steve at 24th SMTF with a bit of added detail on the backs.
Front wheels are 1/25th Pete (the body is 1/24th - free from 24th SMTF member John!!) and the tyres had a wedge cut out to make them low profile.
Front axle is KFS metal with plasticard spring and mount. Steering from brass rod, railway track pins and bits and pieces so the wheels will turn.
Paint is ok (not brilliant) but the hand painted black stripe shows up really badly in pictures on the pc!!
and the inspiration...
