My 6 year old can of Mr Muscle oven cleaner has just squirted it's last shot so the question is...
What do I use to replace it as the new stuff struggles to clean my oven let alone shift chrome??
Any legal suggestions would be gratefully received!

Fairy power spray -doesn't smell like Mr Muscle does and is much safer (though still needs care)

THe new stuff is just fine at shifting most chrome as it is a chemical reaction that removes it not any cleaning agent.
I have a three week old can of MM that I sprayed on the Chrome in my Outlaw last night, I could see the chrome dissolving before my eyes.

I'd go with the Fairy Power Spray, I bought four bottles of the stuff (about £14 worth) and filled a leak proof plastic sandwich box, so far it's cleaned paint and chrome off more than 30 kits, some of them with paint over 50 years old. It'll remove fresh enamel paint in minutes.
Hands down the best stuff I've ever used.
Takes off pretty much anything, though you might have to scrub to remove Halfords primer and it's not all that keen at removing really old matt black paint from American car kits.
But nowhere near as unpleasant to use as Mr Muscle which isn't as strong as it was 3 years ago anyway.
Perhaps the only downside is that it will often remove putty / filler and glue too, but if you're rebuilding a model not such a bad thing. Bit of a pain if you've built a radical kustom full of the ol' Glenn Miller though.

Hi,
I use caustic soda, usually get it in a pound shop, put the parts in a jar or something similar, enough water to cover the parts, a couple of spoons of soda and away you go.......leave it for a couple of hours and wash of in warm soapy water
