I joined www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/ a while a go looking for information on Henry Hirise which is now owned by one of the members. They have a modelling section and a competition over winter which ended on Feb 28th. Deadlines kill me
Anyway, I did finish (other than decals which I may now not bother with, I quite like it 'bare'). Here are the progress pics and some of the finished model.
Paint is Humbrol cream, interior Vallejo red with airbrushed shading and Bare Metal Foil and silver paint details. Chrome on the grille and rear bumper stripped and Alclad painted - there were some mould seams to remove. Exterior trim is all BMF - never again, it took ages and when I put the body on the chassis, I kept pulling bits off :lipsrsealed: The wheel backs looked bare so I added some drum brake detail and the underside was washed with a black oil wash. The wheels have valves added. Ends of exhausts were drilled out, engine wired with distributor (scratchbuilt but you can't see it now) - the leads should be black for correct period but I didn't have any in the right size. The battery is also wired, as is the starter which is held up with a photoetched bracket so it's not hanging in mid-air. The 'wire' moulded on the firewall was sanded off and replaced with fine wire and this was run along the other wing, into the starter and on towards the front grille. I cut the moulded in wipers off but ran out of time to put the etched ones on - shhhh
