2 'new' model rodding mags

Don't know if anyone has seen these. They are both 'self published' and printed to order by Magcloud.

I bought both issues of 'Model Car Builder' by Roy Sorensen. They have good quality photos of very good models and are aimed at showing 'how-tos' rather than just pretty pictures.

I also bought a couple of issues of 'Kustom and Hot rod models' which is more of a traditional magazine with show reports and model reviews. The models are again of a high standard but the write ups are very basic and the page layouts are a bit confusing with pictures and captions not always tying up. There is also a tendancy to use as many different typefaces for headings as possible and slot little pictures of 'readers models' and such in odd corners. Magazine Kustom and Hot Rod M... | Issue Kustom and Hot Rod Models #6 | MagCloud They were a good read but I bought all my copies in the January sale, still worked out about $40 for all 4 including postage (about £24).

I personally won't bother with the Kustom and Hot rod one again, because of the price. However, Roy thinks he will do another 3 or 4 of the Model Builder book and I could be tempted with those as I do like a magazine!

I received the first two issues of Model Car Builder last week. The How To's are pretty good but I think the photos could step up a gear - that said, they're not that bad.

I'll certainly be looking out for the next issues. He gives the impression when you read the editorial in the first edition that this will be infrequent and a limited number of editions.

Well, the first 3 issues of Kustom & Hot Rod magazine and issue three of Model Builder can now be purchased as PDF downloads. The K & HR are $2.50 each and Model Builder $4. While I prefer to have an actual magazine, I can't justify the costs but this way is a pretty good compromise - I can always print them out!
