According to Revell that's an entirely new tool rather than another update.
Personally, I think there are some nice parts on the sprues but the finished article (out of the box at least) doesn't do much for me.

I used my last old '32 to build Bonehead last year so I have no point of comparison.
Looking at the parts on the sprue I suspect that it is actually a very heavily revised version of the old tooling not a full new tool. The flash on the chromed sprue does not look like a new part to me.

The only common parts I can see on the chrome sprues would be the grill, the brake discs and maybe some of the small trim bits.
Otherwise I think the flash is probably down to just poor quality control.

Only thing that bugs me is that Revell apparently worked this kit over based on Stacey's real car but they failed to correctly depict the triangulated rear mounts opting instead to use an entirely conventional trailing arm set up carried over from the original kit. Pity that as it is a real missed opportunity. Giving both options in the kit would have been even better.

I shall attempt to modify mine to the correct set up.
Cos I'm a plonker that's why!

Hi,
How did you get one of these? I've been after one for a while.
I know (from reading a lengthy thread on the Model Cars Magazine forum) that is kit is a bit of a mix of old and new.
The body and firewall for example have got different dimensions to the original '32 series by Revell. People have welcomed the engine, wheels and tyres in particular on this model.
The front supension is incorrect as well since Revell have kept with the dropped tube axle from the earlier series of '32s whereas the real car has a beam axle. If Revell had gotten the supensions correct they would have hit a home run with rod builders as the model would have been a lot better for those wanting to build traditional '32s (e.g. the McMullen roadster).
I plan to get one to add it to my series of '32s I'm working on. Haven't decided whether to do a box stock build or try and correct some of the errors with the kit.
Let us know how you get on with this!
Cheers,

Having finished the latest magazine model I've returned to the '32.
I decalled the interior and body shell last night and set about assembling the interior.
The chrome sprue is stripped and I'm building up the various subassemblies ready for primer. The moon tank is pretty poor with big mould and join lines so is taking a lot more effort than is reasonable. If I had a lathe I'd turn up a three part replacment but I no longer have that access.
Pictures later when i get home from work.

It might be the photo but has the grille got the dreaded "forward slant" that plagued most of the earlier Revell '32's?

Yep, however the real thing exhibits it too.
See box art photo below and video of it on the road on the Gearz website.
